Dear DW,
I know that some of given great credence to the "relationship" with Siemans, can they add to the bottom line at some point in the future?
Who knows, let's hope so, $ is $. They have nothing to do with the sales force and their pathetic performance to date or any of a number of issues that lie soley in the lap of HQ. Beyond that it is just another alibi eg: we won't release our 6 month rollout of PR due to market conditions ( stated last October ).
Is Siemans a major shareholder? Are they part of the APO filed? If so how did they get those shares, was it in payment in lieu of cash? That is what I would like to know.,, Barbara

David,

I think the "organizational changes" at Siemens revolve around
their newly formed subsidiary, Unisphere Solutions,
unispheresolutions.com (website still under construction)
which is integrating newly acquired startups with several acquired Siemens divisions. As you can see from their PR yesterday, organizational focus is not changing...

"Siemens believes that IP will be the main driver in future networks. Therefore, voice and data convergence is an important area of focus. To meet this need, Siemens recently formed an independent, new breed start-up company, Unisphere Solutions Inc., to provide products and services for converged voice/data and IP-based networks. To provide a nucleus for the new company, Siemens acquired three innovative start-ups building next-generation carrier telecom and datacom equipment: Internet edge switch vendor Redstone Communications Inc., services mediation platform vendor Castle Networks Inc. and terabit backbone router vendor Argon Networks.

In addition to the start-up companies, Unisphere Solutions obtained several strategic business units from Siemens Information and Communication Networks to fill out its solution set: the Directory Services Group, the Broadband and Internet Solutions business units and the Telecom Innovations Center (software services). The company also took an equity stake in multiservice access vendor Accelerated Networks.

"The combined assets from Siemens and our acquisitions give us tremendous resources to attack this new market, because we can offer a complete solution set to emerging service providers looking to offer voice, video and data services on IP networks," said Martin Clague, president and CEO of Unisphere Solutions. "The race is on for carriers to provide converged network services to their corporate customers who want to innovate in business with new IP applications. Unisphere Solutions is bringing to market leading-edge products that accelerate a service provider's ability to roll out these new services to capture additional revenue and market share."
