Prior to joining ACC, Whyte served as Vice President and General Manager of the Access Products unit of Newbridge Networks Corporation. Under his leadership, his unit's revenues increased over 200%. Whyte's tenure at Newbridge began in 1986, the year Newbridge was founded, as Vice President of Marketing for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He established strategic relationships with Siemens, Alcatel and AT&T (Holland) and assisted in growing annual revenues from zero to over $100 million in Europe. Earlier in his career, Whyte gained industry experience with British Telecom, Ericsson, Shell Oil, Business Intelligence Services, Mitel and Siemens. Born in England, he received his technical education at Canterbury Technical College.
