I think Niles will spin the earnings report to say whatever makes him look the best (maybe he's taking lessons from James Carville). If Intel comes in below concensus estimates, he'll say he predicted it (even though he didn't change his estimate, he just has a "feeling" he's currently too high). If Intel comes in above estimates, he'll take out a few cents, blaming it on favorable tax rates, investment gains, stock buybacks, or whatever it takes to get the number to match his prediction (plus he'll probably complain about revenues, or margins, or marketing expense, or something else to cover his behind). Looks like it would take a 10% upside earnings surprise of $.05 to deflate his ego and make his call unspinnable.
