With apologies to Christopher Hodgkin ... Chris, how do you know this?: God speaks through many means,...his word, circumstances, the preacher..etc. The resounding theme is that men are sinners and are in need of a saviour. Maybe these means are not conduits for God at all. Maybe they are the voices of Satan made possible while God is off expanding the universe or imploding black holes. Just what did man do that has so offended your deity? All of man's vices are presumably the result of his God-given constitution. So maybe your deity screwed up when he created man as an imperfect being. Or maybe he really screwed up when he gave some of us a brain and some of us decided that we would think for ourselves. Like Orestes telling Zeus (in "The Flies") No sooner had you created me than I ceased to be yours. Did God create man as a play thing, and, being the ultimate control freak, decide to punish man as soon as man showed independence of thought? Think about how paradoxical your belief system is. God, presumably omniscient and omnipotent, creates an imperfect being (man), and then, instead of acknowledging that he screwed up in his creation (which he couldn't, because he's omnipotent and omniscient) proceeds to transfer the blame to his creation and punish it for using its best facility -- its mind. This concept of God is something straight out of a lunatic asylum. Or maybe man screwed up when he created a god so afflicted with logical paradoxes that those who blindly believe are reduced to biblical babbling. Chris, do you ever consider the paradoxes in your belief system? TTFN, CTC
