Similarly, we use only Linux-powered servers, but my home supercomputer PC that is going to get the K7 upgrade runs Windows 98 and will upgrade to 2000.

AMD/Microsoft at home, Intel/Linux at work. Weird, I know. Most people go with Intel/Microsoft and don't give another thought to it, but I and Whalehost are both obsessed with getting maximum performance and suitability for the desired task.

Ben - RE: "I will admit, we have no plans to use K7-based servers in the future at this time. It is my personal belief, that although the K7 is superior to Pentiums in every way for home use, web hosting customers care about reliability only, and not pure speed in accessing their web pages. Needless to say, thus far the Intel servers have been much more reliable."

I hope someone at AMD read what you wrote. Time will tell if they have their work cut out for them.

There are plenty of AMD fans on this thread, we just don't argue with Paul; he amuses us.

Kap.

There are AMD supporters lurking. Actually, I am a FAIR PRICE supporter - The profits Intel gets on its chips is obscene and I'm AMD can help correct that. The K7 is really their last best hope.

AMD, and neither one is that much compared to the rest of my portfolio.

I guess you have had this answered before but what the heck. There are many people here that own AMD stock and are pulling for them. Me included. As for Paul, every now and then you may win an arguement with him but for the most part I believe that Intel put him here for us to torment. <G> And to torment AMD shareholders. Basically you have Paul, Yousef, Elmer as the antagonists with Joey, Dumbmoney, Saturn V and Burt pitching in every now and then. The rest are sympathetic of AMD but really know that AMD is up against Chipzilla.
