AT&T doesn't have the critical mass yet to be a commerce play. AT&T doesn't need to be a commerce play in the sense of selling eyeballs the way AOL does, at least for now. Its business plan is somewhat different and its resources far greater. T has indicated a strong desire to want to be your cable modem service provider. In a few years when cable modems go mainstream, we will see where they go with it. I would expect some very compelling bundled offerings of local, long-distance, cable, broadband and credit card services. SC
