EMC and KPMG Form Alliance to Implement Advanced Information Infrastructure Solutions
HOPKINTON, Mass. and MOUNTAINVIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- June 2, 1999--

World's Largest Provider of Intelligent Enterprise Storage Systems

and Leading Professional Services Firm to

Expand Their Existing Infrastructure Practice

EMC Corporation, the world's leading provider of enterprise storage systems, software and services and KPMG LLP, a leading professional services firm, today jointly announced the signing of a new agreement. With this agreement, EMC will work collaboratively with KPMG to assess, plan, design and deliver enterprise storage solutions to customers.

While EMC and KPMG have maintained a working relationship for several years, the agreement will increase the scope and application of their combined activities. As part of the alliance:

KPMG's consulting group will extend its Enterprise Infrastructure practice to include storage architecture and begin working in conjunction with EMC's Professional Services organization to make EMC's high performance, high availability enterprise storage solutions available to KPMG clients.
Both will utilize EMC Professional Services methodologies.
Both will jointly identify and address new business opportunities and create an Enterprise Storage Solutions Center to support their joint efforts.
EMC will continue to sell, install and service its systems and software while working in conjunction with KPMG.

Ross Curtis, KPMG's Partner-in-Charge, Business Development, and executive sponsor of the firm's alliance with EMC commented, ''The explosive growth of information, e-commerce and convergent technologies will require enterprise IT managers to employ increasingly sophisticated and scalable storage solutions to ensure data integrity. By combining our core business consulting practices with this expanded enterprise infrastructure practice, we can offer clients in all industries extended IT resources and enhanced support at the business level. As we help our clients migrate toward the fully open systems network environment, our alliance with EMC will serve as a foundation upon which deployment of new technology advances can be based.''

Robert Dutkowsky, EMC's Executive Vice President of Markets and Channels, said, ''Enterprise storage is now a core technology and is a critical component of a customer's information infrastructure, especially when deploying applications such as e-commerce or ERP. Customers are turning to leading firms like KPMG to deliver complete assessments covering all the components of their IT infrastructure, including enterprise storage. By teaming with KPMG, EMC will provide customers with another resource to help them deploy best-of-breed solutions that meet their business requirements.''
