It simply is another example of my
unsuitability for this thread. This is honestly said.

Stick around. We'll convert you soon enough.

George, there was nothing in my response to "fear."

Perhaps -- and this is meant kindly -- you have a problem grasping the nuances of language in general, not the language of locusts, in particular.

In any event, no one who posts here qualifies for the designation of "locust", assuming you mean by the word 1) a grasshopper (i.e., idle, empty-headed person); or 2) a specimen of a huge & frightful horde of vegetation-devouring insects (like the locusts in Exodus 10), or, 3) or one Revelation's scorpion-tailed, golden-crowned, and human-visaged locusts, who will emerge from the bottomless pit to torment mankind at the end of time.

In fact, I think that if you were to go through the thread, and read the messages of each poster, one by one, you would find that each poster speaks an individual, distinctive language of his or her own, and has his or her own specific concerns.

My concerns, to take only one example, are Very Serious. Serious enough to laugh at, on occasion. Let's take that little piece of black humor which you thought perhaps inappropriate for this thread. Some of the major themes that it addresses:

1) The idiotic commercialization of practically everything;
2) The inaninity of much "scientific" research;
3) The absurdity (and loneliness) of life in general;
and, last, but not least,
4) The aggressive nature of SUVs.
