Blue light is near the short wave length end of the visible spectrum.

It's of more interest for increasing density of storage devices; and of passing interest to those looking for alternative technology to replace CRTs.

I'm not a scientist, so you may choose to disregard all of the above.

This isn't my field, but I don't think that the blue laser development has much to do with Cymer. The wavelength of Cymer's lasers are in the DUV range (much shorter than visible light). This new blue laser is probably around a wavelength of 400 nm or so (or around 0.40 microns). Cymer's excimer lasers can etch structures below 0.25 microns. Cheers.

I asked that same question here last year, and the answer is no, the blue lasers don't have anything to do with Cymer's lasers. The blue lasers they are working on are low power units to stick in consumer devices, not $400K etching lasers like Cymer makes.
