Mike,

Digital photography as a distinct consumer market has crossed the chasm, but in and of itself it does not possess enough proprietary technology to be classified as a market for gorillas. A digital camera is essentially a glorified video camera capable of taking high resolution still photographs by converting an analog image created by the CCD into a digital compressed representation.

Flash memory solutions (and other removable memory solutions for that matter...a topic of later discussion) are stealth technologies that were lost in the shuffle. They crossed the chasm without showing their passports. Essentially the digital photography manufacturers created a bridge and the flash memory manufacturers just strolled over unmolested. Well, almost unmolested (also another topic for discussion).

It is a symbiotic relationship with flash memory innovation being the critical enabling technology.
