SPSS broke out of a 10-week base on 733,000 shares, or 13x normal
volume. It traded as high as 29 1/2 before settling back. The move came as SPSS denied rumors it is in talks to be acquired by Oracle or IBM, saying those companies are strategic partners.

American Home Product (AHP) reports disappointing earnings after the bell yesterday, not a good sign.
