America Online (AOL) acquired Spinner.com and Nullsoft today for $400 million. Spinner.com is one of the leading net radio companies, while Nullsoft develops the popular market-leading WinAmp MP3 player. Look for AOL to leverage these firms' products and technology across AOL.com, ICQ, and Compuserve customer bases. This is AOL entrance into the digital music media game with a very anti-Microsoft vote to Mp3.

America Online has become the latest to get into the online music business, with acquisitions today of Net radio firm Spinner.com and music technology company Nullsoft. The stock-for-stock transactions are valued at about $400 million and will be accounted for as pooling of interests, according to AOL. AOL's moves are designed to give it a leg up in the online music space, which has seen tremendous activity of late. The acquisitions will make "next-generation music features available to consumers of all its brands, providing a wide range of new audio and other applications and functionality to its partners, and [will help] to develop key music capabilities for AOL Anywhere devices and broadband initiatives in the future," AOL said in a statement. - News.com

TA -- **OT Thanks for great post, links, info on INKT -- also on my short list of internet stalwarts, titans, or whatever is the right term -- category killer or dominator. Like you apparently this is 1 in my hold, hold list. Given late hour, will PM you tomorrow re: maintaining some tracking on this -- very difficult to hop around to
so many different sites for posts, tracking.

Thanks again.

Regards,

George

INKT + Dow Jones

messages.yahoo.com

Will make a good trade today.

Remember all, INKT is the behind the scenes company
for other internets to work. They run the software for
the net similar to CSCO running the hardware for the
net.
