Cringe - Re: "You know AMD has a history of announcing but not supplying, so who is to say things will be different this time, as the quote suggests."

Touche' !

Re: "So far, things are looking good for the K7, assuming performance is significantly better than FS's benchmarks."

Just WHAT do you think is looking good?

Re: "The way I see it, what could really screw AMD up is the transition to .18 at Austin and the ramp-up at Dresden"

Maybe.

We'll know in a few months.

Cirrus,

The way I see it, what
could really screw AMD up is the transition to .18 at Austin and the ramp-up at
Dresden.

That's all? Piece of cake?

Tony

Cirruslvr,

Re: "You know AMD has a history of announcing but not supplying ..."

That's a good point, Cringe ... Remember, AMD did this very recently with
the K6-3 450mhz part.

Re: "The way I see it, what could really screw AMD up is the transition to
.18 at Austin and the ramp-up at Dresden."

When was the last process that AMD didn't have a "screw up" ?? ... The ,35um
process was a disaster in its transfer from Sunnyvale to Austin, then we
all (especially Jimmy) remember the "successsful" ramp-up of the .25um process
that resulted in 100+M$ losses for AMD. The .18um process will be a
"financial" disaster as well.

Make It So,
Yousef
