If one can without excessive offense...mostly, I just don't socialize much any more. When my wife was the Alumni Director at St.John's, we had a lot of "business socialization", and so didn't schedule a lot of personal obligations. Now that she is working in the city for a professional association, and we are taking a break from alumni stuff, there is a relative dearth...By the way, St. John's social activities frequently revolve around seminars, lectures, and other such activities, which often saved me from total boredom. It is the mindless cocktail parties that get me, at least if one can't easily dig up a good conversation...
