If you hold them, they will take them from your brokerage account automatically and will pay you the $21 a share. You will not lose out on anything by holding them. The thing is I see no date for the settlement. Do you? Anyone?

you can either sell in the open market as vlsi is still trading, or wait for the fraction of a dollar difference and one day $21 cash will appear in your account instead of the vlsi shares as Philips gets around to it.
