Bob,

Sounds reasonable, though there should be a bit more corporate responsibility for dangerous consequences of lethal products like tobacco. My take on all of this, is that we are willing, as a nation, to spend trillions of dollars to protect ourselves from foreign dangers (and I think we should), but as soon as we talk about the real dangers within our society, the government's role is questioned. My sense is that many people are getting injured, sick, and dying every day which could have been prevented.

I applaud the efforts by the government to try to safeguard the society, though I wish that it could be more efficient and consistent in its endeavors. I hope that the government does fulfill its goal of supporting biotechs efforts towards the elimination of cancer and other curable diseases.

Back to TCLN - How would the experts here compare the progress and potential of TCLN with IMCL, SUGN, BLSI, ENMD, and MAGN (and others?)?
Probably the only competitor to TCLN on the safety profile may be squalamine from MAGN.

Robert, I agree with what you say, but the implication is the slogans 'land of the free and brave' 'life liberty and the pursuit of happiness' should be replaced by something less edifying. Words like Stepford Wives, 1984, Big Brother, Prozac Place, Once Upon A Time, Hal [2001 A Space Odyssey], Land of the helpless and dependent, Pessimism Not Optimism.

Good luck, you'll need it!

But I suspect that the cost of tidying up after the foolhardy won't be as much as you think. People are notable for generally trying to stay alive. They'll become cautious. Those who don't will contribute to human evolution by their demise. Cigarettes save the taxpayer a fortune by killing off those who smoke, who are generally the less economically productive people anyway [being in the bottom part of the socioeconomic scale]. They'd end up getting medical treatment sooner or later in their lives and probably more expensive medical treatment when older, but they get sick younger, get a bit of medical treatment, then die, avoiding the payout of a decade or two of pensions.

Still, if that's what the voters want, that's what they get.

Maurice

PS: Isn't the cost of the building damage in hurricane land paid for by the insurance premium payers? That's a voluntary donation. Shop around for a company which doesn't cover the crazy.
