ZiaSun ZSUN 4/28/99 $11.07* $8.50 23%
Well, aside from a 2-for-1 stock split, getting criticized by Jane Bryant Quinn in Newsweek and taking a pounding by investors, this company's had a pretty quiet month. Ms. Quinn pointed out how expensive and generally worthless Online Investor Advantage's seminars are. Online Investor Advantage is a ZiaSun subsidiary. Investors have apparently taken a closer look at ZiaSun since running it up to $35 a share in late March. Even the company's staunchest defenders on the message boards are getting weary, while its detractors continue building a case against ZiaSun's viability. And why not? The financial statements the company released in May should have investors scratching their heads. Although ZiaSun boasts a $1.15million profit, scan the cash flow statement and you'll see it actually lost almost $200,000 in real money.
