ML - Merrill Lynch.

Could be that some people are thinking that Merrill will offer online trading in Canada too eventually - that's competition for E-Trade.

I think that Merrill's move into online trading has made some investors realize that the big brokerages are tired of losing clients to E-Trade etc. Now they're going to fight to keep those clients. As for "V" - the long-term opportunity is still there, it's just that the market has to sort out the impact of Merrill's and potentially other big brokerages' moves. This could turn out to be a chance to get some cheap V shares. Caution for now.

MERRILL LYNCH. They are introducing the service in US. Commission in line with Schwab but they are also going to be offering unlimited trading at minimum of US 1500 per year, probably tied to a % based on assets in the account. All in all more competition and pricing pressure....
