The way that I see it is that the net stocks have a lot of growing to do to catch up with their stock price. There market caps are larger now than traditional retail companies. Companies that sell over the net cannot make much more than traditional companies. There is only so many dollars consumers can spend. The companies that will make out are the companies that provide the backbone of the net like Cisco, EMC, Sun, and Microsoft. Do you really think that Ebay will not have competition and there PE was over 1600 last time I checked. These companies are one pony shows. There will be as many people hurt as helped by these internet retailing stocks. I agree with you on CMGI, you spread out your risk because they have their fingers in so many pies.
