Wednesday June 2 2:24 PM ET Yahoo, Sprint To Bring Internet To Mobile Phones SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Reuters) - Internet media giant Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news) and Sprint PCS said Wednesday they had struck a deal to offer Yahoo's Web content to users of Sprint PCS mobile telephones by late this year. Under the deal, Sprint's wireless subscribers could use a range of co-branded Yahoo Internet services, including e-mail, accessing an address book and calendar and reading financial, sports and weather news, the companies said. Sprint PCS is the wireless division of Sprint Corp. (NYSE:FON - news) and has about 3.35 million people signed up for its PCS digital mobile telephone service. ''As part of our 'Yahoo! Everywhere' strategy, we are committed to making Yahoo! services available to users of any device, from any access point, at any time,'' Ellen Siminoff, Yahoo's vice-president of business development, said in a prepared statement. ''This agreement with Spring PCS further enables our users to benefit from Yahoo! content and services without being tied to a home or office PC,'' Siminoff said. The Sprint-Yahoo service would become available in the fourth quarter of this year. Sprint said it also had plans to make its handsets function as a stand-alone Web browser later this year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
