Sun Tzu: I have no positions in the stock market right now
and I don't see that changing.

Interesting, based on your expertise... Does this mean that you see better investment opportunities elsewhere (e.g. bonds, other fixed instruments) and that the stock market does not look favorable at this juncture? If so, at what point did you sell off your last equity investment?
Thanks again for your very astute observations on the market. Some of the best I have seen on SI!!!

ST,
<Aside from some very high end applications, the only use for those big servers is to
lower the costs by shifting the load to the servers from the desk tops>
Welcome back. Did they have the Jurassic Park ride out in FLA -- my 8 yr old daughter and I couldn't get enough of that in Hollywood, despite being drenched on a relatively brisk day.

Back on topic, I absolutely agree that the client-server model will be with us forever. My point was that there is a continued migration of power to the desktop, at the same time that power is increasing at the servers. I remember the beginning days of the Cray CMP; everyone was so excited about having 32MB of physical memory!! I could actually get big models (3000 nodes then) to run in less then a few days. Instead of quenching our thirst, it made us want more. That feeling has not changed.
