OT

I never use ebay or other auctions...but how much cost is that taking out of the system?....some for sure........

Well, you ought to take a look at some of the stuff. Tried to bid on a 27 acre ranch in Montana (drug seizure sale). Was offered last week on ebay and evidently didn't meet the minimum. I think bidding stopped somewhere around 287K. It's being offered again. Probably with a lower minimum.

You never know.....

Mark

Hi edamo jr..Re:. In the inflation data, do they (ever) include things such as computers, books, cds, electronic gadgets, BROKER COMMISIONS, etc

Here's what's included in the CPI.

stats.bls.gov

Also, they list some of the following categories here.
stats.bls.gov
The CPI market basket represents all the consumer goods and services purchased by urban households. Price data are collected for over 180 categories, which BLS has grouped into 8 major groups. These major groups, with examples of categories in each, are as follows:

• Food and beverages (ham, eggs, carbonated drinks, coffee, meals and snacks);

• Housing (rent of primary residence, fuel oil, bedroom furniture);

• Apparel (men's shirts and sweaters, women's dresses, jewelry);

• Transportation (new vehicles, gasoline, tires, airline fares);

• Medical care (prescription drugs and medical supplies, physicians' services, eyeglasses and eye care, hospital services);

• Recreation (television sets, cable TV, pets and pet products, sports equipment, admissions);

• Education and communication (college tuition, postage, telephone services, computer software and accessories);

• Other goods and services (tobacco and smoking products, haircuts and other personal care services, funeral expenses).

Maybe you can suggest additions to the list. <g>

.it appears to me that the long-bond at 6% is overdone...

I heard the market loves excesses.<vbg>

Cheers,

Lee

let me share the reality of the global economy...a fax received from a strategic partner in japan this am..:

"japanese market has been shrunken month by month. we used to manage a department store but now became a cheap sweets shop from management of discount shop. trust japanese market follows usa markets in 10 years before. we now face the door to the recession. unemployment rate shall be increased now on as you have experienced in usa."
