I am hoping for stronger than expected Office2000 sales
this Q and MSFT CFO to come out in June and tell us that
things are looking stronger than expected, asking analysts
to increase estimates by few pennies to 38 - 39c+

Jim, I don't know if we will get a summer rally--we should but who knows. I am more confident in Microsoft shares than I am with the market in general---that is why I went margin on MSFT (1st time since March or January--don't remember).

I don't think MSFT wants to be labelled a monopolist due to the problems they could encounter in private lawsuits. Why not take the punishment and make it harder for future action---and be better prepared next time. If they can limit the settlement to Windows98, I don't think they will have a problem. I think they are aware that Windows CE and NT (2000) is the future for them anyways---and these are not monopoly products. Settling makes private lawsuits more difficult.

BTW--what is "TIA"?

Jim, the summer rally officially started at 3:55PM EDT today and will continue through July 29. There will be a pause through August, then continuation through Jan '00, as 401(k) and IRA money flow into a market highlighted by low inflation and lower interest rates. IMO, of course.
