As for seating three in the back, my litmus device is a baby seat. If Ben is complaining and if you are feeling the pinch - I'll bet that bench will fail the Baby Seat Test.
In five years, insh'Allah, I won't have to worry about those dagnabbed baby exoskeleta. They are unwieldy pieces of junk.

I really do think that the baby seat killed the station wagon. There's no way to put two of them next to each other, then leave room for a belted adult to one side.
