Nortel is 49% owned by Bell of Canada. Intel with dialogic will be great for the evolution of telephony. Up to now it has been controlled by LU and NT with their closed architectures and software. Go to DLGC's homepage and see what they are all about. PC based voice mail systems use dialogic voice conversion and compression cards. Call Center CTI platforms are infested with dialogic components.

INTC now comprises 20% of my holdings after today's buys.

Amy,

The switch business is dominated by Lu and Northern telecom.

Lucent has a valuation that is many times NT's.

The equipmet biz is not going to change overnight IMHO.

If they agressively want to play in telecom equipment they either buy Lucent, NT or Cisco.

I amagine NT will be picked up - probably by Cisco.

And proprietary systems are fine- as long as you are a dominant player - just ask Cisco et al.

If you want to sell cheap components then a components mind set is they way. They need to have a solutions mindset IMHO. And use their chip strength to lower costs and beat Lu to the punch.

Regards,

Kash J.
