Canadian Co. to announce 'significant' oil discovery in Colombia within next two weeks says Colombia minister of mines & energy!!! Heard this on CBC Radio 1 news today - clip from the Colombian trade seminar in Calgary - of course the Colombian minister didn't say which company! Anyone care to guess! I'm new to the O&G sector and have been 'lurking' this thread in search of investment ideas and general education - thanks to everyone. So, what Canadian companies have been brave (or foolish) enough to work in Colombia? CJ

I note w/interest that ngas prices surpassed $2.40 US briefly yesterday before trading down just a bit today. The following slightly dated but still timely news release concerns upcoming cash dividends to be declared by Alberta Energy (AEC.TO or AOG.NYSE), one of Canada's biggest ngas producers: CALGARY, April 21 /CNW-PRN/ - ALBERTA ENERGY COMPANY LTD. (''AEC'') today declared a dividend of forty (40) cents per share on the Company's issued and outstanding Common Shares, unchanged from the prior year. This dividend of approximately $50 million for current shares outstanding will be paid June 30, 1999 to shareholders of record at the close of business June 9, 1999. AEC is one of only three Canadian senior oil and gas producers that provide a dividend to investors.
