Paulo, Why must a depression inevitably occur? Because there are forces and cycles always at work in our rather fragile physical reality that tend to interfere with the creation of "heaven on earth". Not only that, but humankind, not being perfect, tends to put up and create it's own obstacles to unlimited good times.
