Patton and Bradley were given command of the Army after the disaster at Kasserine Pass. The previous commanders had let the Desert Korps pull a double pinscher movement trapping the Army at both ends. Patton wouldn't get caught in that sort of trap. And he would kick the GIs into being ready for battle. Dad said it was sometimes questionable whom they hated more, the Germans or Patton.
