LONDON, June 3 (Reuters) - Shares in on-line information group Dialog (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: DLG.L) rocketed 13 percent higher on Thursday after reports that the group was poised for an major Internet-related deal.

The stock soared 11 pence to 95-1/2p by 0811 GMT, with nearly one million shares changing hands by that time.

The Mirror newspaper said Dialog was about to reveal one of the biggest Internet tie-ups of the year -- believed to involve America Online's Compuserve (NYSE:AOL - news), which could push its annual revenues to more than 200 million pounds.

The Mirror and the Daily Mail both cited speculation around Dialog's purchase of one million pounds worth of computers from EMC (NYSE:EMC - news) to increase its capacity to handle cyber-traffic.

''Dialog is hardly likely to throw away one million pounds on unneeded equipment,'' the Daily Mail story said.

Dialog played down the reports.

''As an when we've got something to announce, we will announce it,'' said a Dialog spokesman, adding that the stories were pure speculation.
