OT LG: I do not want to discount your friend's experience per se, but let me summarise a recent San Jose Mercury News article. It stated that in Palo Alto, which tends to be a bellwether for SF Bay Area real estate price movements, prices were heating up again. The example cited was a home that was listed for $2.2M, garnered a frenzied bidding war among four buyers, and sold a couple of days later for $3.2M. The author cited Internet stock options as an important driving factor.
