NewsWire Tektronix Offering Workgroup Color Printers to Federal Customers Through Partnership With Dell, CDW-G

Partnership With Dell, CDW-G

Tektronix Increases Reach to Federal Customers Through GSA Federal Supply
Schedule

WILSONVILLE, Ore., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix Inc. (NYSE: TEK), the
leading producer of workgroup color printers, announced today that Dell
Computer Corp. (Nasdaq: DELL) and CDW-Government (CDW-G), two leading
suppliers of computer technology to the federal market, will now offer its new
line of Phaser(R) color printers through the Government Services
Administration's (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule.
The agreement accelerates Tektronix' growth into the federal government
information technology market, which currently accounts for 14 percent of the
company's color printer business. Now federal customers of Dell and CDW-G can
select from an array of efficient, award-winning Tektronix products. The GSA
schedule will include the Tektronix Phaser 840 solid ink color printer that
recently won Federal Computer Week's Best Buy Award, the Phaser 740L
color-capable laser printer, the Phaser 740 color laser printer, and the
Phaser 780 tabloid-size color laser printer.
"This development strengthens Tektronix' existing commitment to the
federal market and enhances our position for future growth," said Jean Nassar,
Tektronix vice president of worldwide marketing.
"The demand for color printers is on the rise everywhere, particularly
within the federal government," Nassar added. "The combination of our new line
of award-winning color printing products with the strength of Dell and CDW-G
provides a strong value proposition to our federal market customers."
Government agencies will benefit from the ease-of-use, speed, efficiency
and economic price of Tektronix' color printers. In October, the company
boldly announced four new color printers that establish new standards for
price and performance. The new line of printers includes: the Phaser 740L,
the first color-capable laser printer at a black-and-white price of $1,495;
the Phaser 740, which, priced at under $2,000, smashes price barriers for
everyday business color laser printing; the Phaser 840, which has already
received the Best Buy Award from Federal Computer Week; and the Phaser 780, a
tabloid-size color laser printer for under $5,000.
The leading supplier of computer systems to the federal government, Dell
Computer Corporation is the top vendor on the General Service Administration's
Federal Supply Schedule.
"By offering Tektronix color printers, Dell further demonstrates its
commitment to providing federal customers a full range of products and
peripherals from best-of-breed manufacturers," said Ro Parra, vice president
and general manager, Dell Public, Americas and International. "Dell's ability
to offer the most relevant technologies directly to government through the GSA
schedule provides a one-stop shop that helps save federal customers time and
money."
CDW-G, a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW Computer Centers, Inc.
(Nasdaq: CDWC), is a leading supplier of computer technology to the government
marketplace.
"The addition of Tektronix color printers to our comprehensive GSA
schedule product offering gives federal offices another reason to choose us as
their technology provider," said Larry Kirsch, senior vice president, CDW-G.
"The combination of advanced e-commerce technology and the personalization of
our dedicated sales force provides our federal customers with unparalleled
service."
Dell and CDW-G are the latest in a growing list of GSA schedule holders to
feature Tektronix products. Other companies include: Comark, CompUSA
Government, Edgemark, Force3, GE Capital Information Technology Solutions,
GTSI, McBride and Westwood Computer Corporation.
