RE: Kingston Vision Chooses PixStream Video
Networking Solutions For Technical Trial Of New
Interactive Television Services Over ADSL

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--

UK based telco to redistribute satellite and wireless video signals over copper telephone lines to customer homes

PixStream Incorporated, a leading developer of video networking solutions, today announced that Kingston Vision, a
subsidiary of UK based Kingston Communications (Hull) plc, has selected PixStream video networking systems for use in a
technical trial of its new interactive television services using ADSL technology. The PixStream system will form part of the
broadcast video head-end, taking in uncompressed and compressed video feeds and adapting them to Kingston Vision's
platform.

''We researched a number of international systems and chose the PixStream video networking system because we believe it
provides one of the highest quality video and audio encoding at low bit rates on the market today,'' said Matt Child,
Managing Director of Kingston Vision. ''The system also integrates well with our existing network management systems and
is very compact.'' A typical PixStream video head-end solution takes only one tenth of the physical space requirement of a
traditional video head-end solution.

The technical trial will involve baseband encoding analog PAL signals from satellite and wireless sources and then sending
these signals through the Kingston network to the homes of customers in Kingston upon Hull. The trial is part of Kingston
Vision's objective of offering multiple bundled services over copper to its customers. These services will include digital
television, high speed Internet access, e-mail, local information services and video-on-demand. The trial will permit the
company to further understand customer requirements for this type of service offering. ''The PixStream system provides the
technology that we need to offer these types of leading edge services to our customers,'' said Steve Maine, Chief Executive
of Kingston Communications. The trial is expected to continue for the next few months before the service is launched to
subscribers in the Hull and Beverley areas later this year.

The PixStream video networking solution is a highly manageable multi-channel platform for delivering high quality MPEG-2
digital video over broadband networks. Unlike single channel systems, the chassis-based PixStream video networking
platform has a lower cost per channel and is more compact, fitting up to twelve video encoders in the space that most
systems fit one. The architecture of PixStream video networking systems accommodates multiple different function and
interface cards including MPEG-2 encoders and decoders, and ATM and IP multicast network interfaces. The system can
be integrated seamlessly into terrestrial, satellite, cable and wireless infrastructures, it can be used in a variety of broadband
networks and it supports emerging modes of transport such as xDSL, Gigabit Ethernet and LMDS.

''We are really proud to have the opportunity to work with Kingston Vision,'' said Dave Caputo, Vice President of
Marketing, PixStream. ''They are truly innovative in being able to offer these bundled services to their subscriber base. They
are one of the first telephone companies in Europe to do so.''

Other companies involved in the trial include iMagicTV, providing the software application that allows Kingston Vision to
manage the interactive services, Element 14, producing the set top boxes, and Sun Microsystems and Oracle, providing
video servers.
