Tad - RE: "The key questions would therefore continue to revolve around the performance characteristics of the K-7, its manufacturing ramp and its OEM/end-customer acceptance."

(This one is serious.)

As you said, we will find out about the first one first.

As far as the other three (I perfer to separate OEM/end-customer) go, we have indications yields are doing better than expected, but then again we have no idea what expected was. We also basically have Compaq's acceptence (Paul - a press release won't come out until the DAY the chip comes out, as history has shown). Who, if anyone initially, else may jump on is unknown, but anyone else would be a boon, especially compared to the K6's launch.

Here is a link to stuff I found regarding the K7 and K6 launch.

Do you see any other likes and differences?

A.A.,

Re: "I would think that the longs are looking for meaningful profitability
to justify much higher prices ..."

I actually agree with you on this point, A.A. ... but ... I believe that
AMD will post a loss in Q2 and most likely Q3 with solid negative earnings
for the year. Intel will continue to keep AMD "segemented" into the low/middle
end home PC's and AMD ASP's will stay below $100. A.A., keep a close
watch on K7 performance/benchmarks ... If AMD can't stay up (Mhz or
performance), then they will never get their ASP's up.

Make It So,
