Advanced Telecommunications, Inc., Announces Agreement with Covad to
Distribute DSL Services Agreement Provides Small Business Customers With Source for Cost-Effective

High Speed Access to Internet Service Providers

MINNEAPOLIS, June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Telecommunications, Inc., (ATI), a Minneapolis-based Integrated Communications Provider (ICP), today announced it had signed an agreement with Covad Communications Company to jointly market high speed Digital Subscription Line (DSL) service to small and medium sized business customers. Under the terms of the agreement, Covad will provide DSL facilities and assist ATI with the funding for the marketing of the services; ATI will provide for the distribution of the services.

Robert Pickens, Executive Vice President of ATI stated that the agreement provides significant benefits to ATI customers. "We continually strive to make sure our services best fit the needs of our customers. DSL technology provides customers with what they need--high speed access to the Internet at affordable prices." ATI had looked at partnering with several DSL providers and saw a strategic fit with Covad. "We were attracted to Covad based on their speed to market, service footprint, technical capabilities, and their commitment to a partnering relationship" stated Mr. Pickens.

Bryan Eichenwald, Vice President of the Minnesota Region for Covad Communications Company, said he was enthusiastic about the agreement as "ATI's mission of being a single source provider of telecommunications services to smaller businesses is clearly in line with what the market needs and it is the reason behind their growth. Covad Communications is excited to be part of that growth."

Covad Communications is in process of finalizing the implementation of its network. Covad's extensive network will be able to provide DSL services to upwards of 75% of area businesses. ATI and Covad Communications expect to begin offering services to customers in July.
