It seems pretty clear to me that if the 810 was never validated with the PIII then it was never intended to be used with the PIII.

This morning I heard on (I believe) CNBC that this was a Celeron-only chip set and that the problem was that cut-rate PC assemblers were trying to save a buck by using this cheaper chip set with P-IIIs. You can't blame Intel for this one.
