<Can someone explain the difference between fixed wireless technology and wireless cable technology? Is the frequency used the difference?>

There's no difference. In the beginning, this service was restricted to one-way analog transmission which was good for carrying TV signal, hence the early name wireless cable. Next, it evolved to one-way digital transmission which allowed for much greater numbers of channels and one directional internet with a phone path return. Many cable systems started and still offer one way high speed data from the cable and a slow return path using the phone for uplink.

In October last of year, they reached an agreement for a 2-way digital standard which would allow for new services again. The plan is to do everything that could be done on any high speed network; internet, voice, TV, entertainment.

Regards,

Mark
