Robert, OT *** DSL *** You said >I'll be putting in a DSL line soon at $30 a month. It will double as my fax line and so the additional cost will be minor.<

I was told DSL is 'always on' and can run on the same line
used for voice calls. I'm considering going that way, after
cancelling my second phone line. Do you have a different
understanding?

Gottfried

>DSL line soon at $30 a month

!!!

My order for a DSL line has been placed a month ago, and the ISP hasn't contacted me since. I call them and they give some lame excuse, pinning the blame on Covad (which provides the circuit) or Bell Atlantic (which provides the interconnection).

And it costs $59/month plus $25/month rental for the DSL modem.

Robert,

<<I'll be putting in a DSL line soon at $30 a month>>

I could not understate the pang of desire and homesickness I felt when I read this. Bouncing between two government controlled ISPs trying to find someone who speaks English who usually doesn't know anything more then two cans and a string has been extremely trying. I will continue to take my succor at tax time.

You may be well right about the Summer doldrums and tech stocks. The have been incredibly battered of late. I wonder where it stops?

Best,
Stitch
