Clarification of the Sale of Cybersurf's Vancouver Subscriber Base to Internet
Direct

Business Editors/Technology Writers

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 1999--Due to the
overwhelming number of inquiries regarding the sale of Cybersurf's
(ASE:CY.) Vancouver subscriber base, Cybersurf wishes to clarify a
press release issued by Internet Direct on June 1st, 1999. Internet
Direct stated that it has completed the subscriber base acquisitions
of Cybersurf Corp. Internet Direct purchased a small portion of
Cybersurf's regular dial-up subscriber base, and has not in fact
acquired Cybersurf's entire subscriber base. None of the subscribers
sold to Internet Direct belong to the 3web Network (Cybersurf's free
Internet and Email service).
In anticipation of a Vancouver launch of 3web, Cybersurf sold its
Vancouver subscriber base of approximately six hundred (600) users to
Internet Direct. Unlike 3web subscribers, those sold to Internet
Direct are regular dial-up users who still pay for Internet access.
Cybersurf's subscriber base of 3web users is nearing one hundred
thousand (100,000) in Alberta alone, making it one of the largest
Internet Service Providers (and the only free Internet service) in
Canada. 3web's subscriber base in Calgary and Edmonton is currently
growing at a rate of 300 new users per day.
The 3web Network is a proprietary software application that was
developed by Cybersurf Interactive Media, a division of Cybersurf
Corp. It offers its Calgary and Edmonton users a powerful and secure
portal to anywhere on the World Wide Web, as well as Email and
E-commerce functionality. The 3web Network is subsidized by commercial
advertising, and is 100 percent free to the user. Cybersurf's
proprietary 3web advertisement-supported technology is unlike any
other in existence, in that it brings highly targeted,
demographically-specific advertising to the user's desktop. While
traditional portals spawn advertising within a web browser (making it
easy to bypass), 3web's portal operates independently of any Web
browser and can never be hidden or disabled. No matter where the user
travels on the Internet, 3web's advertising is always visible. It is
because of this feature that advertisers on 3web can be guaranteed
exact impressions and can target highly specific demographic profiles.
To view examples of 3web in context with Netscape's browser,

understanding of Cybersurf's proprietary technology, and of the 3web
Network's intelligent advertising capabilities, visit
