Starbucks Coffee Company and Time Inc. are getting ready to launch an in-store magazine and Web site in the next two weeks.
Joe Magazine joemag.com will feature "essays, fiction, poetry, photography and illustrations," according to its Web site.

Company officials did not immediately return phone calls.

Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) has hinted that it has big e-commerce plans in the works. zdnet.com

In April, Chairman Howard Schultz said that Starbucks was planning an Internet venture that would leverage the fact that the company's customers tend to be young and well-off. And last month, a Merrill lynch analyst said that Starbucks would launch a portal site combining commerce and content.

Music, books and more
The Joe Magazine plans appear to include sections dedicated to music, books, movies and television, judging by some of the domains registered by the company.

This will not be the company's first foray into the online world. The company recently made an investment in online community site Talk City Inc. Schultz also sits on the boards of eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY) and Drugstore.com Inc.
