Yeah of course and hes a well known figure which is why the Chron doesn't boot him. Its good publicity for the paper. But the problem is SF has a huge gay population and the republicans are clearly anti-gay. And they say things like "being gay goes against judeo-christian ethics" which is a very personal thing to say, its not the same thing as me saying I don't like the republicans because they trashed the schools. If I moved to some conservative stronghold and wrote an article people would just think I was a nut - shocking I know that anybody could ever think that about me but yes, it is possible - whereas the gay community literally fears the republican position.

No, not really. My son works in the film industry and he tells me there are some things you just you don't say in public. Black balling is rife throughout the entertainment industry and the LL has a lock on all the media outlets, so if you want to work you better keep your conservative or moderate political leanings to yourself.
