Fungible=undivisible.

Think of grain in a silo. When you want one bushel of grain, you don't know who it really came from. Just out of the silo. But you don't know whose grain it was....

Freeus, it basically means that one company's product is much like another. If you are buying a PC there is little to distinguish between competing brands. This is the hallmark of commodity-type products.

ot*Freeus - Re: Fungible (I'm such a stickler for proper usage!<g>!) (and margin bushwhack)

fungible (fùn'je-bel) adjective
1. Law. Returnable or negotiable in kind or by substitution, as a quantity of grain for an equal amount of the same kind of grain.
2. Interchangeable.

noun
Something that is exchangeable or substitutable. Often used in the plural.

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language
(i.e., not "indivisable", just interchangeable)

By the way - someone (arthur's "friend", I think), wanted me to tell you that you don't have to have most of your income from trading in order to be a trader. True, but it sure helps - a lot. (Remind me not to butt into any more OT conversation!)

Regards. I share your margin hurt (vis a vis Dell and ATHM) - but Suretrade is much easier on margin than those brokers whom others appear to be using on this thread.
