Internet stocks were softer in choppy trading. In a research note this morning, Stephen Shobin, chief technical analyst at Lehman Brothers, said Internet stocks -- like the market -- are long overdue for rallies, however, put/call data for Net stocks is still poor. Therefore, rallies, are likely to be short-lived and he's recommending selling bounces. "Don't expect an important bottom until the Internet group has become thoroughly discredited," he wrote.

TheStreet.com Internet Sector index has traded as high as 561.89 and fallen as low as 546.01.
