I could not agree with you more. I have lurked on this thread (and others) but now am forced to respond in support of what you have said, and I can't say it better. I'm totally fed up with the childish bantering -- must say that of all the posters here, maybe three or four offer information of use to an invester. I am not a trader. Thanks for your post.

Andreas,

It really is sad how little worthwhile info. is disseminated on this thread. Opinion
is not fact or worthwhile info. that can be used to make investment decisions.

Feel free to go out and do some research of your own and bring it back in here. You are just as capable as any of us. What makes you think that this thread's purpose is to educate you? It's a two way street last I looked.

Am I the only one who is sick and tired of reading
posts 70% of which are technobabble (ie. what this chip can do and can't do and
how the k-7 is better than piii, etc. etc.)?

Yes, maybe you are. If not, there are other Intel threads, easy to find, that may suit your needs better. Or, you could start your own. This particular one has always been THE general purpose one, with a strong technology leaning. Seems to be a whole herd of folks that like it that way.

I have to take issue with your dislike of the "technobabble" on this thread. It's sounds like you don't care about that pesky "engineering crap" as long as INTC can make you a buck. Even if you didn't mean to say it that way, that's how you come across.

Sure, the "technobabble" can get to be a little too persnickety at times. I'll give you that. But without good discussions on technical details, how can we gage Intel's potential future in the world of computers? How would we know whether Intel possesses the edge in innovation, or whether Intel is relying on yesterday's technology in order to remain the leader? And how would we know whether Intel's competition has the potential to knock Intel off the top if all we did were to take "foils" at their word?

If you still don't want to listen, then fine. Pose some interesting questions for us that don't involve mindless debating and bickering, and mentally tune out the noisemakers (e.g. Black-Scholes). After all, this is the Internet, where the signal-to-noise ratio is typically very low.

Andreas,

Re:"To Thread - This thread is 90% nonsense!
Am I the only one who gets tired of listening to the constant mindless debate about whether or not intc is satan himself and whether or not amd will ultimately displace intc in the chip world? Am I the only one who is sick and tired of reading posts 70% of which are technobabble (ie. what this chip can do and can't do and how the k-7 is better than piii, etc. etc.)?"

I think you are full of it.

Intel is a high tech company with significant risks and rewards.

If you don't care for the technology go invest in a fund and be hands off.

IMHO there has been a tremendous discussion on the upcoming prospects of RDRAM here and the new Intel chip sets etc. This is vital information if you are an Intel investor. Also will be info on willamette and merced which seems to get updated here regularly.
The thread even benefits from at least 2 current intel employees (tench and PB) who post information regularly. As well as several ex-intel folks (headed by Paul) who are fountains of information. And scumbria for all his one mindedness is the most knowledgeable person on the thread on x86 architectures.

Unfortunately the personal baiting and the good (and bad) natured posts do clutter the thread, but having said that you should be GRATEFULL for all the excellent data posted here. Every thread should be so lucky!!!

Regards,

Kash

Andreas,

This thread contains very little meaningful info that will help determine future price of intc shares.

If you find a site which accurately predicts the future price of stocks, please let us know. In the meantime I can provide some links which accurately report the past price of stocks ;^)

I personally guarantee that the price of INTC will either go up, down, or remain constant over the next month.

RE: "Isn't there anyone out there that has concrete, substantiated info regarding sales, product mix, asp, capacity utilization, what their brokers are saying etc.?"

Andreas,

I think all of the things you mention are important, and the technical information too.

We're about due for another estimate/calculation on product mixes, etc.

IMHO Some of the competitive technical battles help flush out and distinguish the potential real issues from the unimportant ones. I find this useful.
