>>>What barrier is keeping people from signing up for online bill pay?

First off some of the numbers are mis-leading. Integrion especially, many of the Integrion banks don't even have a web bill pay option. BoA(a.k.a NationsBank On-line) is the best example (excluding CA), has no on-line bill pay option. Same deal with Michigan National I believe, except Michigan National is planning to roll out (in pilot phase now).

Different Banks charge different prices for Bill Pay, so different banks get different results. So Far, Wells Fargo's new numbers look good for the Quarter, about the same as the last Quarter (which was a very good quarter for Wells Fargo).

Integrion 2,500 a day
First Union 3,000 to 4,000 a day
Wells Fargo 1650 a day?
Chase?
Quicken?
NetB@nk?

Fidelity?
Prudential?
Merrill?
Schwab?

They are on their way....no doubt...just be patient, really. That's going to be the key...patience. And then one of these day's Alice, Pow!

What barrier is keeping people from signing up for online bill pay.

FWIW:My bank will have me as an online banking customer the day they say they will pay me for each paper check that I don't write, so they do not have to incur the additional cost of processing it.

That may occur someday when they change their mindset to using the technology as a means of cost saving rather than looking at it as a source of additional revenue.

Responses welcomed,
