My grandmother had chickens too. I don't know which ones they ate but I remember a story about how she put them to sleep. Mostly I think they were egg chickens. My mother used to have to milk a goat because her little brother couldn't drink cows milk.

Free range chickens. I'd rather eat them. My granny liked to tell how she could shoot a chicken through the head with her 20 gauge without messing up the chicken. My oldest sister has less fond memories of chasing them and having to wring their necks.
