Whoa there...

I'm not talking about any specific product, I'm talking about 3dfx's ability to execute. Even if I told you whatever was coming up has twice the power and flexibility of the next Playstation it doesn't matter if they don't execute.

I try to balance all of my thoughts with both the good and bad. If you've made a long term investment in 3dfx because you thought their next generation product would kick butt, what happens when that product is in the channel? Where does 3dfx go from there? From a long term perspective we need to analyze whether 3dfx has the ability to keep executing every day. The fact that they haven't produced a revolutionary design since Voodoo1 gives us an extremely limited track record by which to gauge them. In the graphics industry, you are always six months away from total failure because you are only as good as your current product. Because of this, it's more useful to analyze the management rather than specific products.

Doug, I'm more positive now about 3dfx's future than any other time in the past. I'm not quite sure I understand why you would pick now, of all times, to decide 3dfx was a poor investment. Heck, 3dfx is getting stellar sales on a mediocre product. What happens when they get a real product?
