BGR -- because none of this is straight lines. The US has a negative savings rate. The stereotypical person out there has a mountain of credit card debt because they want to live the good life while staying fully 'invested'. Big league players with highly leveraged accounts are paying higher interest rates every day, and all those with actual money will leave the growth stock game for greener pastures. All those fully 'invested' credit card wielding players who keep saying 'stocks are the only place to be' will dirty their pants as rates go up sharply to head off worse things to come. Growth stocks? Or overfed pigs? The pigs will be served as snacks and the growth stocks, if you can find them, will eventually do just fine.
