Well to be perfectly honest some of the best news releases come on Friday. It draws attention to the stock and they have all weekend to discuss the news and do DD. A lot more online news letters are going to this. It helps get more long term investors by giving them the time to do the DD. Just all in how you look at it. Most day traders like Monday morning or morning releases before the bell to get the infamous gap. Most stock that are not looking for the wave put out releases after the bell so people have the evening to do the DD. Remember if you are a trader then there is one logic... and investor's logic is entirely different. ALso the SEC disclosure Rules require a company to put out news in a timely manner. :-) GB
