I rest my case. There's been no bear since 1974. Ask Peter Lynch. The '73 - '74 escapade practically cleaned him out even though he held more than 1000 stocks. From 1974 until 1981 the stock market was in a depressed state. Since the 1981 internal bottom the stock market has seen no bear phase. 1987 was merely a several day computer generated bad joke which showed just how much confidence the confidence men have. '89 and '90 were little more than mild corrections. 1994 was similar. Lynch has had good years in all these so-called bear periods even though they slow him to 1%/yr. Hey, that's no bear.
