Well as my antenna predicted this monster short squeeze and it was surely in full effect today!!!! No rate hike will come! U.S. Manufacturing base is degenerating and the 4.2% unemployment rate reported today is counting those underemployed and in undesirable temporary jobs as fully employed. This is not representative of truly robust and healthy economy. More layoffs by major U.S. Corp. announced today. Check your business wire! Gains in other areas can not fully compensate for loss of U.S. manufacturing base to foreign relocations.

Y2K uncertainty being down played by government agencies to public for P.R. reasons but I believe, and have some evidence, that they are reporting concern interdepartmentally especially where Latin America and Europe is concerned. CIA is very concerned and has reported recently to the press that some Latin American countries have replied " If we see a bug we will spray for it" when approached to report where they are with addressing the Y2K issue.

Greenspan will not raise rates in the face of this uncertainty. EOM
